One thing that can really make a wedding spectacular is having amazing floral arrangements. Flowers alone can set a whole mood for your wedding and help tie everything together. But as every bride knows, flowers can be expensive. Here's a few helpful tips for having awesome flowers on your wedding day within a tight budget.
If you're doing an informal wedding...
A simple and inexpensive idea for your bridal party bouquets would be to tie a pretty bunch of flowers together with a nice ribbon. You could use simple wildflowers from around your yard or a nearby field. Just remember to differentiate your bridal bouquet from the bridesmaids by either varying the color of the flowers or the size of the bouquet.
If your wedding is simply elegant...
I single beautiful bloom like a Calla Lilly is very elegant and actually quite popular these days. Just tie a nice thick stain ribbon around the stalk to give it a little more formality. (When choosing this option for your bridal bouquet - it is usually best to leave out bouquets for the bridesmaids. It's yet another way to differentiate yourself and as an added bonus it will cut down on your overall flower budget.)
If you're doing a traditional formal wedding...
Traditional weddings tend to have flowers galore. There's the bridal bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, flowers for the pews, flowers for the altar, floral centerpieces at the reception. All of these various flower arrangements can add up to a huge chunk of your budget. If your heart is set on using flowers in all these places during your wedding, silk flowers may be a cheaper option for you. You can check your local craft stores for pricing. I have found though, that the really nice silk flowers tend to be quite expensive and can put you at the same cost as real flowers.
If you're thinking about cutting out flowers entirely...
I would say that the only REALLY important floral piece is the bride's bouquet, for which no expense should be spared. You can do without flowers on the altar of your church or arrangements down the aisle, but a bride's bouquet can add so much color and beauty to the photos!
As you can see there's a multitude of options when it comes to your wedding flowers, ranging from the very elaborate and flower centered weddings, to the more simplistic small touches of flowers. Whatever option you choose, make sure it's right for you and what you want for your wedding. Hopefully some of the above mentioned options will help you to stay in your budget and still achieve your dream wedding.
